On April 23, Lower Moreland High School’s Multicultural Club hosted a Multicultural Night in the LMHS courtyard. This year’s multicultural club was led by Seniors Zayna, Zayla, and Jaela George, Junior Anh Tran, and advisors Dr. Tina Mollett and Ms. Brooke Mulroy. The event was filled with a variety of games, performances, and food from all over the world! Each unique contribution from different cultures made the night alive with spirit and community.
Multicultural Night meant more than delicious food and fun games. “I hope that students took away the value of other cultures! A lot of people just aren’t aware of what other people have to bring to the table,” Zayna says. “Whether it’s through food, performances, or the activities, everyone enjoyed some part of a bigger world tonight, which we’re always happy to see!”
Multiple performances took place during Multicultural Night. Ava Thompson, a Junior representing Puerto Rico, wrote a speech about the importance of being part of a place where someone doesn’t feel like they belong. From her speech, Ava hopes that people understand “You should embrace your differences because that’s what makes you great.”

Another exciting performance included an Albanian traditional dance with traditional music from members of the LMHS Albanian Club. Prior to the performance, performers received help from the Albanian community. “We also have a local Albanian organization called Bijte e Shqipes, which translates to sons of Albania. They have professional workers there that have taught us how to dance since we were kids. We also use their costumes and some of their props, like the flags, which we are really appreciative of, so shout out to them!” Sarah Shehu, president of the Albanian club explains.

The class officers for the Class of 2029 continued the Class of 2028’s project, “Light Up the World with Diversity.” Attendees signed where they are from on a map, and different places from all over the world were marked.
With all the participants and different activities, it’s safe to say that Multicultural Night was a huge success! Through every unique food, activity, or performance, Multicultural Night strengthened Lower Moreland’s community, making the event truly special.
