Lower Moreland High School’s Interact Club has found incredible success over the years through its annual Out of the Darkness walk. Every year, the club partners with the American Foundation for
Suicide Prevention to organize a walk that seeks to raise awareness about suicide and console those who have been affected by it. The participants attending are either in support of the cause, or there to honor the memory of someone they knew. The event is often beautifully executed and includes recitations of poetry, painting displays, musical performances, and the overall walk itself to the Bryn Athyn Campus.
This year is no exception: the 2026 walk more than just surpassed previous records; it decimated
them. This year, Interact Club was able to recruit over 300 people for the walk and raise more than $23,000. This is no small feat; the club’s leadership team, comprised of Jessie Becker, Anna Akhobadze, Anabela Relvas, Sarah Goldy, and Terrence Chen, in addition to faculty moderator Dr. Tina Mollett, have achieved success like never before.
The majority of donors in 2026 came from various teams representing people who recently lost their lives at a young age. The money they helped raise goes further than they know, raising awareness for the cause and supporting people going through the same hard times their loved ones were facing. While the walk is over until next year, the Interact Club welcomes the entirety of the Lower Moreland community to join us in the fight for suicide prevention!
