This fall, LMHS has been host to a variety of creative fundraising initiatives, with each one supporting a unique cause. The hard work of these students and the staff doesn’t go unnoticed and has to be highlighted. Students and staff have picked causes that do not always get the spotlight, and they have worked hard to meet their fundraising goals through a variety of initiatives.
LMHS Interact Club Car Wash
On Saturday, September 9th, the Interact Club held a car wash fundraiser in support of the Wounded Warrior Project, an organization that assists post 9/11 wounded, ill or injured veterans and first responders. The timing of this event was particularly meaningful since it took place in September.
The car wash was a great success, with dedicated Interact Club members washing every car that came through, leaving them sparkling clean. In collaboration with the National Honor Society (NHS), many students also participated by having their cars washed, contributing to the community’s involvement.

Overall, the event was incredibly successful, thanks to the enthusiastic volunteers and the generous individuals who came to get their cars washed and support this worthy cause. Compared to last year, the club exceeded its fundraising goal by 70%, raising a remarkable $1,246. It was an incredible event led by Dr. Mollett, Co-presidents Jessie Becker and Anna Akhobadaze, Vice President Anabela Relvas, Secretary Sarah Goldy, and Treasurer Terrence Zhang.
The leadership team of the club would like to emphasize that every initiative they undertake is aimed at helping the community and those around them. The Interact Club’s efforts are not only focused on fundraising, but also on spreading awareness and hope.

Looking ahead, the Interact Club will be hosting their annual Food and Clothing Drive to support the Willow Grove Food Pantry and will also prepare blessing baskets during Thanksgiving, among other initiatives. Please keep an eye out for various fundraisers and consider contributing however you can.
LMHS Mini-THON Color Run
Every year, LMHS’s Mini-THON hosts a Color Run that attracts many participants from the Township and Bryn Athyn area. The funds raised during this event are donated to Four Diamonds, an organization dedicated to supporting families and children affected by pediatric cancer. This year’s Color Run took place on September 20th.

This year was particularly special as it was the first time Mr. and Mrs. Segalow organized the Color Run. The event had over 470 participants, surpassing last year’s numbers. When interviewed, Mrs. Segalow described the Color Run as an extremely successful event filled with positive vibes, and she spoke about how these incredible events aim to raise funds and awareness for pediatric cancer. It is crucial to continue these fundraising efforts, as only 4% of all cancer research funding goes towards pediatric cancer. We plan these activities to boost awareness and support those affected by cancer.
The Color Run began with all participants covered in vibrant colors from head to toe, creating a positive and lively atmosphere in the high school parking lot. There was a 1-mile fun run to encourage children to join in the fun, while the other participants either ran, walked, or jogged a 5K, all while enjoying quality time with friends and family.

Although this event is over, there are still many ways to help us raise money FTK. Upcoming events include a Glow Out party for 7th and 8th graders on Friday, November 7th, and Mini-THON on Friday, November 21st.
LMHS Notes Of Hope
Notes of Hope is an annual fundraiser held at LMHS for the past 14 years, supporting Philabundance, a nonprofit organization that goes by the belief that no one should go hungry while healthy food goes to waste. Their mission is to drive hunger from the 350+ communities that they work with. They are proud members of the Feeding America Network. In addition to distributing food to those in need, they work to reduce food waste, increase access to nutritious meals, and address the root causes of hunger.
The event was organized by dedicated student leaders, including seniors Garrett Murawsky, Katelyn Haggerty, and Gabriella Madackel, and juniors Christine Mungiole and Julia Cavallo. It featured a showcase of the diverse and talented students of LMHS, with many friends and family coming out to support them. The entire Township was invited to enjoy the performances, enjoy delicious baked goods, and participate in fun raffles.
This year, Notes of Hope raised an astounding $1,124! Co-Head Gabby Madackel expressed, “Raising this much money was beyond what we expected, and we are so glad that we have such a supportive community that allowed for this event to happen!”
