Lower Moreland is home to many notable individuals, one of whom is Mr. Chapman, our dedicated LMHS greeter. With a rich and inspiring background, he embodies a commitment to education and service, making him an outstanding member of the Lower Moreland community.
Mr. Chapman began his educational journey at Archbishop Wood, graduating as a member of the Class of 1969. He furthered his education by receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, followed by a Master of Education Degree in Counseling Psychology from Temple University.
Mr. Chapman’s extensive career spans over 34 years of dedicated service to our country as a war veteran beginning with his enlistment in the Marine Corps. He was a Marine for 14 years during the Vietnam War, and remained on duty throughout his time in Vietnam. He also served in the Air Force for 20 years.
After the tragic events of September 11, 2001, Mr. Chapman continued to serve actively for nearly three years, including a deployment to Kuwait in 2002. His dedication to protecting our freedoms led him to Iraq, where he returned in March 2007 after several months of critical service.
After being discharged from four years of active duty in the Marine Corps on September 11th, 2022, he became a Lower Moreland police officer. He continued his commitment to public service, employing his incredible talents as a Firearms Instructor, and was a member of LM’s SWAT team for twelve years.
Mr. Chapman’s retirement from the LM police force did not slow him down; he continued to make a positive impact in the lives of those around him by joining Lower Moreland High School as our cherished greeter. In this role, he dedicates his time to supporting students, faculty, and visitors alike, ensuring that everyone is welcome.
The next time you stop by the greeter booth, please take a moment to express your gratitude to Mr. Chapman for his years of service and commitment to making our community a safer and more welcoming place for everyone.
