Former Lower Moreland alumni Dr. Peter Boonshaft recently made a visit to his old stomping grounds. Dr. Boonshaft is a well known name in the music industry. He is an exceptional conductor and former music professor at Hofstra University. The Lower Moreland band had the privilege of working with the conductor for a short period of time prior to their winter concert and during the concert as well!
On December 3rd, during the LMHS Winter Band Concert, Dr. Boonshaft conducted one piece called “Prophecy” with the band. The band had an incredible time working with Dr. Peter Boonshaft and the members were able to learn many new techniques as well as how to grow as musicians. This experience also brought great joy to Dr. Boonshaft, as he was able to return to where he went to school years ago!
In the words of Dr. Boonshaft, “I was asked if I would rather work with the Marine Corps Band again or with the Lower Moreland High School band, and I said the Lower Moreland High School band!” Lower Moreland was very excited and very grateful for this once in a lifetime opportunity! Dr. Boonshaft, thank you for this wonderful opportunity!!
