On September 27th, 2024, Lower Moreland High School held their annual Homecoming Dance from 7:00-10:00 P.M. in the LMHS gymnasium. The event, featuring a Varsity Football game followed by a glamorous dance, showcased the spirit that defines the school community. The event was attended by over 500 students and was very profitable for the Student Council.
The day started off with Lower Moreland’s Varsity Football team playing against the Academy of the New Church. The stands were filled with students, including the pep band, who energized the crowds with hits like “Hot to Go” by Chappell Roan.
As the sun set, students attended the Homecoming Dance in the gym, which was transformed into a dazzling venue with twinkling lights and decorations. “It’s a chance to celebrate with friends and make lasting memories,” said freshman Chloe Li. Student Council supplied a DJ to play music by artists such as Travis Scott and Taylor Swift. Brandon Han and Alyssa Gottesman were crowned Homecoming Royalty; their Court included Chelsea Cohen, Aubrie Zucaro, Bianca Berardi, Kaitlyn Koshy, Ashley Avington, Ben Morris, Braden Campbell, Bryan Recinos, Adam Shiloni, and Judah Katalan.
Months of planning by the Student Council was on full display during Homecoming. From planning the date to organizing the dance, the council collaborated to make the night a big success. The planning process began late last school year, with Student Council members brainstorming dates, coordinating music, and managing budgets. “We started meeting late last year to start the planning process,” said Homecoming Organizer Mr. Engleman. The process was headed by Student Council members Kaitlyn Koshy, Mia Rosala, Roya Rosala, Braeden Flood, and Madeline Broderick. Mr. Engleman also played a vital role in coordinating the dance. The profits raised will fund future school activities and scholarships.
Lower Moreland High School’s Homecoming 2024 was an undeniable success, reflecting the hard work of the student-elected Student Council. Student feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with many complimenting the ambience and organization of the event. Hope to see you there next year!
