The Seven Year Slip is a book destined to enchant anyone who opens up its pages, drawing readers into a world where love and time intertwine effortlessly. I recently read Ashley Poston’s book and was captivated throughout the pages. With a little under 300,000 reviews on Goodreads and the hype around Poston’s other book Dead Romantics, this book was at the top of my list to be read. This was my first Ashley Poston read, and I will definitely be reading more of her books!
The story follows Clementine, who, upon moving into her aunt’s apartment, is startled to find a mysterious man from another time living there. As the adventure unfolds, Clementine begins to develop feelings for him, creating a captivating combination of romance and intrigue. With Clementine navigating her own battles with career challenges and grief, Ashley Poston seamlessly blends romance with literary fiction, striking the perfect balance.
Overall, this book feels like a comforting embrace—a true literary hug. The vibrant setting of New York City and the beautiful imagery draws in the reader, making it easy to get lost in the plot. Poston’s writing is simple, yet incredibly entertaining! This book is not only a romance, though; the reader also gets to see the progression of the main character as she matures and goes through the grief of losing a loved one. Therefore, I would give this book a solid 4.2/5 stars. My only complaint is that the plot was a bit slow and predictable. That being said, I would still recommend this book to anyone who is seeking entertainment and a cozy autumn read!
