Lower Moreland High School’s Mini-THON has been one the most anticipated events for students and staff for years, and despite the hectic planning and stress that accompanies it, it has been hugely successful under the guidance of Mr. Preedy and Ms. Pearson. However, with Mr. Preedy’s departure from LMHS and this upcoming year being Ms. Pearson’s last, things are bound to change.
Ms. Pearson, who has been moderating Mini-THON for several years, is sadly stepping down from her position as one of the staff supervisors after next year’s THON. Describing her leaving as bittersweet, she affirms that she is extremely proud and content with the work she has done in her time as a supervisor. In fact, after raising over a whopping two million dollars over the years, she could not be more proud to have been a part of our school’s ever-growing love for Mini-THON’s cause.
Similarly, Mr. Preedy, who has been overseeing Lower Moreland High School’s Mini-THON alongside Ms. Pearson, announced that he is leaving the school this year. He expressed his excitement about the new opportunities he may encounter, but also said he is sad to leave behind the memories he has made here at Lower Moreland.
At this moment, the future supervisors are still unknown, but the goal remains the same. Hopes of raising even more money than last year’s event and continuing to make a real change to pediatric cancer research remain prominent in our school community, which, in the words of both Mr. Preedy and Ms. Pearson, should not change just because there are different supervisors.
Everyone will surely miss both Mr. Preedy and Ms. Pearson’s refreshing presence as staff supervisors, but there are still great things ahead for Lower Moreland and its support of the Mini-THON event.
